When talking about colourful style, we often think of bright colors, holiday time and large sized jewellery with these designs often being viewed as for leisure time, especially for vacation.

But how about we change our mind a little bit, we can wear this kind of style jewellery in everyday life too.

I design YAN Jewellery items in a brand new way, letting colourful styles come into our daily life, you can wear this colourful jewellery at all occasion no matter at a party, at a wedding, going out for shopping or even in the office……

Jewellery Style at a Party

The photo above (photo 1) is an ideal example of a dress that you can wear to the party, but the look is somehow a little bit plain without the decoration of jewellery, even though the bright red and orange colors match together for an interesting clothing design.

I would like to make this party dress more fun by putting two sets of jewellery (photo 2) together with it.

The first set of colourful style jewellery is a matched long style citrine, or you can say “yellow quartz” necklace and a matching handmade bracelet.

To make the necklace more colorful, I put lavender quartz with pink quartz and the addition of a litchi Jelly agate carved peony onto the piece.

The bracelet in the same set has a silver peony component in the middle with supporting citrine bead – the light yellow citrine bead adds a little light and fresh feeling to the bright orange dress.

In addition I use another set of jewellery which is an extra long style aquamarine necklace with a cherry blossom agate pendant and a matching double loop aquamarine bracelet to add a contrast of color to the dress and as the aquamarine is a lighter blue the two colors do not conflict together.

Colourful Style at a Wedding

Photo 3 shows a possibility that you can wear when you attend a wedding, it is a cotton top that has lace frills to make a luxurious feeling, I also pick a dazzling skirt to make a lively look, but without addition of jewellery it has an apparent lack of focus.

I choose two sets of colourful style jewellery to lift up this look – the short style deep blue cordierite necklace matched with the double loop cordierite bracelet together with a long style purple lustre moonstone necklace and single loop purple lustre moonstone bracelet.

You can see from the photo (photo 4) that after I put on the jewellery, the clothing in turn becomes more formal, colorful and elegant.

Going out shopping

Look at the photo (photo 5) above, it is a light yellow top matched with a grape purple skirt, decorated with a long style purple phosphosiderite necklace together with short style rainbow colour tourmaline and amethyst necklace.

The whole look is both not that floral nor of a typical holiday look, but you can say that it still has a colourful look, I call it light colourful style.

The look above gives you a tender and comfortable feeling, suitable for occasions like wearing in your spare time, you can go out shopping or have a picnic with your family.

In the office

You can always change your clothes to change your whole look without changing jewellery or you can change your jewellery without changing your clothes to give you a new look, see more mix and match ideas on our fashion articles blog.

This look (photo 6) above is an office look with a light colourful style, as you can see the set of jewellery matches with the clothes very well, the whole look gives you a very professional image and I think the look is more likely for superior position people in a company.

The short style necklace is made from silver obsidian, white crystal and silver components with a simple design of black and white colors.

The long style necklace and the double loop bracelet are designed as a matching set, using black obsidian and wing wood as the main bead.

The three pieces of jewellery use the same black tone, which is classic and easy to match with different colors of clothes.

Today I use a one-piece light brown dress which can give other people, your colleagues and your customers, an impression that you have a stable character which is suitable for the working place.

Want to go out after work? How about take a walk in the park? You do not need to change your clothes, just wear another set of jewellery and put on a knit linen top, so easy to change your whole look with a simple addition.

As can be seen on the photo (photo 7), because I want to give you a warmer feeling when you go out, I choose a sunstone short style necklace matched to a long style scenic agate necklace with golden lustre obsidian pendant and a double loop golden lustre obsidian double loop bracelet.

All three items have natural lustre – especially in the sun – making people feel the cosy atmosphere around you.

In summation new international colourful style can be used in all occasions in daily life and in a professional setting, our jewelry is very matchable with different materials, clothes and designs of clothing making for an important addition to your wardrobe.

This set of jewellery is made from aquamarine and pink quartz with S925 silver components. The main colors of the set are light purple pink and aqua blue.

The first photo illustrates a possibility to wear out to the seaside, someone may argue that it is too formal to wear out, but how about a relook at the design of the clothes, the thin blue color coat with a white dress inside, there are white patterns like fish scale on the dress, the whole costume makes you look like a mermaid arisen from the sea – a perfect match.

If you wear the dress to the seaside, the best thing to do is to take a walk along the beach, obviously you can not lay on the beach as it would be really uncomfortable.

To match the feeling of a mermaid, I choose aquamarine which matches the feeling of the ocean while to lighten up the whole feel of the dress, I added purple pink quartz which is a special kind of pink quartz.

The second clothes that I choose to match to the same set of jewellery is a very formal pink T-shirt, or T- shirt dress which you could wear to a place of work.

Although the color of pink can add a lively feeling to the formal office clothes, but it still seems a little bit serious.

The set of jewellery does give a leisure feeling to the clothes.

If you wear the set of jewellery and the clothes to the office, people won’t feel a certain distance from you, you are easier to approach and are more approachable.

The final picture demonstrates a fact that you can match the clothes with the same color system—-pink.

Without the set of jewellery, you can see firstly the neck place is a little bit empty, so does the twist.

I think the set of clothes is the one you should wear to have afternoon tea, you need your clothes to be a little bit interesting and also be kind of formal. Now the set of jewelley shows the other character which exactly meets the need of the occasion.

It is a very interesting thing to do by using the same set of jewellery matching the different styles of clothes. Be relaxed about fashion and enjoy it.

As the first passage of our blog, we discuss a topic that hardly anybody has touched before, how can one set of jewellery come out for different styles.

Look at the picture above and tell me your first impression of the jewellery.

I think you may view the set of gemstone jewellery made from Choi obsidian, white crystal and tiger eye, as a gothic style, but have you thought of the possibilities that jewellery can make in a difference to your personal style?

From the picture above we can see that the style of the cloth is ideally for a leisure time like going out with your friends or family for a picnic.

I think for most people that see the first photo may not think that this pair of jewellery can match such floral, light color clothes.

The jewellery itself makes the slightly plain color brighter. Without the jewellery, the whole set of clothes loses its point.

The picture above shows another possibility in terms of style of this set of jewellery, from the dazzling clothes you can figure out that they are prepared to attend a party or you could wear the clothes to the theatre.

As you can see that the same set of jewellery matches the totally different style of clothes well.

From my own perspective, you can always define fashion in your own way for example you can do a mix and match thing or like using the same set of jewellery for reaching the style that you need.

Look at the set of jewellery above, I tried to make them an interesting pair, the design concept is about little cute creatures.

I choose rhodonite as the material for the owl and cat claw pendants because the pink and black color gives a lovely texture like oil painting, has a girly feeling but with a good taste.

The first set of clothing that I choose to match to the set of jewellery is a one-piece cotton dress, the color of the dress is grey-blue.

If you wear the dress without the set of jewellery, the dress is very lady like but a little bit dull, the adding of the two little creatures makes the whole look more lively.

The other look is a casual look, if you want to take a walk outside in a forest or have a picnic outside, you can wear the set of clothes, a simple designed cotton white shirt ,matched with a brown-yellow cotton long style skirt.

This time the owl and cat claw pendants are more likely to be closer to the theme forest, matching the natural feeling of whole set of clothes.

Product Care

Our jewellery is fashioned from a range of natural gemstones and high purity silver beads pendants and other accessories.

Gemstones have surfaces polished to mirror like finishes and the high gloss finishes such as those on obsidian are prone to fingerprint smudges if handled routinely, we recommend using zero lint cloth suitable for glass to clean these surfaces if needed.

Though many gemstones are renowned for high hardness they can be prone to shattering or cleaving when shocked, do not drop and avoid knocking against hard surfaces.

Silver parts are prone to discolouration the longer they are exposed to oxygen in the air, we recommend storing them in the airtight lock bag when not in use. If silver parts to become discoloured over time soft cotton pads can be used to remove very light discolouring or commercial silver cleaners if a tarnish develops and lighter solvents are unable to remove the tarnish.

Our Designer

Our talented designer Pan Yan is an accomplished traditional arts painter and oil painter with works displayed in the provincial gallery of Hebei in China. Her love for flowers and design and attention to detail in following the meticulous rule sets of Chinese painting follow through in the detail implicit in her designs.

The designs of Pan Yan are based largely from the floral world and the rich symbolic Asian connection between art and flowers, simple basic forms present in painting that build up to convey images of much presence and richness which are evident in the design of bead jewellery.

My designs are based on the natural colour and texture of the gemstones, bringing out the best possible natural beauty of them. My design ideas come from nature and important aesthetic concepts throughout human history, for example, ocean and Gothic.

To best reach the design result, I need to coordinate different colors ,which my previous oil painting art work experiences help me a lot, and variety components, which my traditional Chinese painting skills help me a lot.  

Traditional Chinese Arts and Jewellery Design

Traditional Chinese arts and jewellery design have a kind of similarity in many ways. Firstly, when you draw a traditional Chinese painting you need to have a theme, the main things you need to draw and how to structure the things you want to draw are perhaps the most important thing.

For jewellery design, you need to have a kind of inspiration like the traditional Chinese painting, for example we have concepts to catalogue the jewellery. Those concepts are the things to inspire me that day.

Secondly, in terms of dealing with lines and patterns, when you draw a traditional Chinese painting, you need to use lines to construct the picture, like bones in the body. In the jewellery design, you also need to decide which kind of gemstones are needed to build up the jewellery and how to use silver component like a pattern to best reach your design idea.

These are two important aspects of similarity between traditional Chinese painting and jewellery design that we can talk about today, we may talk about the topic later again in the future.
